Yes back now and had a really great time thank you. Pedro was a very likeable and knowledgeable guide with a passion for the area and his horses and promotes ecotourism which we all found encouraging. The horses included Portuguese native ponies which were ideal for the terrain we were in and were well cared for. Our accommodation was in very nice modern apartments within the local village which offered several restaurants and a couple of supermarkets for any supplies. Overall a really interesting and fun trip with wonderful scenery and would definitely recommend it. My only comment would be to be prepared for all weather conditions! The accommodation was lovely, luxurious, new and clean. The breakfast hampers from Anabela were wonderful, homemade muesli and jam, local cheese and fresh bread every day. The packed lunches were good too, fresh rolls with interesting fillings. The horses were great, the Garranos seemed a bit small at first, but they were very strong and sure-footed and a lot of fun. They were responsive and soft-mouthed, not at all like normal trekking ponies. Pedro obviously cares for them very well and is sensitive to their needs. The landscape is stunning, though as we were quite strung out with Angie taking it slowly not all of us benefitted from Pedro’s explanations. He was a wealth of knowledge and as wildlife enthusiasts it was really interesting hearing about his research and local knowledge, something you could definitely promote. The rides were brilliant, great tracks through the heathland which would have been great for gallops, stony tracks through valleys, and circuits through local villages. The Valley of the Wolf is a great finale to the three days, just stunning. I can’t think of anything negative at all! WOLVES AND WILD HORSES – PORTUGAL
Barbate was great. From the moment Caroline picked us up at the air port till she left us there we were very well taken care of. The horses was excellent, the “program” good and the mixture of riding – good food, half a day at the beach, the hotel and the relaxed holiday atmosphere suited us perfectly. It is a small beach, we met no other Norwegians, Germans or other tourists which suited us fine; the casual dress code very much in our league. Also we were lucky being alone in the group. We were very well taken care of and enjoyed both the riding tours in the woods and on the beach. All honor to Caroline who kept an eye on us and guided us excellently. Perfect family thing to do.
